Does anyone know of any good sources of lesser-known American folklore (i.e. not of the Paul Bunyan or Johnny Appleseed or even Brer Rabbit variety)?

I have a Field Guide to Imaginary Birds, but it doesn’t have much for the US. Books of early US ballads or poems might be easier to find.
